Inclusion at Mowden
At Mowden, we believe that every child matters and every child belongs. Our inclusive approach ensures that all pupils are supported to thrive – academically, socially, and emotionally.
We are committed to meeting the needs of all learners, including those who may need additional support at different times in their school journey.
Who We Support
Our inclusive provision includes support for pupils who may:
- Have Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND)
- Be in care or previously in care
- Be eligible for Free School Meals (Pupil Premium)
- Have pastoral, emotional, or behavioural needs
- Be experiencing temporary challenges or changes in circumstances
We understand that children’s needs can change over time, and we work closely with families to provide the right support at the right time.

- Close partnership with parents and carers
- Working with external professionals (e.g. educational psychologists, speech and language therapists)
What to Do if You Have Concerns
We encourage parents and carers to speak to us as early as possible if they have any concerns about their child.
Step 1: Speak to your child’s class teacher They know your child well and can discuss your concerns and any support already in place.
Step 2: Contact our SENDCo or a member of the Inclusion Team If you would like further advice or feel your child may need additional support, we are here to help.
Step 3: Agree next steps together We will work with you to decide on the most appropriate support, which may include monitoring, interventions, or referrals to external services if needed.
We value your knowledge of your child and believe that working together leads to the best outcomes.
Working in Partnership with Parents
We believe that strong partnerships with families are key to supporting children effectively. We will keep you informed, listen to your views, and involve you in decisions about your child’s support.
