Embracing British Values at Mowden
At Mowden Infant and Junior Schools, we value and celebrate the diversity of all pupils, families and the wider school community. Through all aspects of school life, we actively promote a set of values which underpin what it means to be a responsible citizen in a modern and diverse Britain.
We believe that embedding these values helps our pupils grow into respectful, confident, and thoughtful young people. By ensuring that children understand and embrace these principles, we support their spiritual, moral, social, cultural, mental, and physical development. In doing so, we also help pupils develop the knowledge and resilience needed to make positive choices.
British Values are:
- Democracy
- The Rule of Law
- Individual Liberty
- Mutual Respect and Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs
These values form a fundamental part of our ethos, though they are not exhaustive, and we seek to embed them in all aspects of school life so that pupils experience them in meaningful, age‑appropriate ways every day through:
- The curriculum
- Personal development activities
- Teaching and learning
- School policies
- Staff development
